Buddha Circuits.com, Kathmandu, has organized the marathon with the aim of helping to boost tourism affected by Corona through sports tourism. The competition, which started from the World Peace Stupa in Lumbini, ended at the Baby Buddha in Akhand Shanti Dwipa, after passing the Mayadevi Temple.

This year, the Lumbini Peace Meditation Marathon was soft launched as a test run. Vikram Pandey, the creator of the meditation marathon, said that it will be widely promoted and made a national and international product from next year. 'We have already planned to make the marathon and Buddha Jayanti complementary to each other,' he said. 'Next year, those who run at the Buddha site will enjoy spiritual energy along with the experience of meditation.' Olympian Baikuntha Manandhar, the race director of the marathon, said that this will greatly contribute to Nepal's peace tourism. 'Those who only know the identity of Buddha will now learn about Lumbini through the marathon,' he said. 25 people, including a foreign citizen from New Zealand, participated in the competition.'
