Oman captain Jatinder Singh seemed to take on this role against Nepal on Wednesday at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur. With his century, Oman managed to defeat Nepal by 102 runs in a rain-affected match based on the Duckworth-Lewis method. Oman has won all the matches played against Nepal in League 2 in Kirtipur.
Jatinder's innings was like a highlight on television. Jatinder, who gave no chance to the Nepali bowlers, hit 15 fours and 5 sixes in 96 balls. Inspired by Jatinder's 130 runs, Oman won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 305 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply, Nepal scored 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 36.5 overs when the match was stopped due to rain, while Nepal trailed by 102 runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Jatinder's innings was like a highlight on television. Jatinder, who gave no chance to the Nepali bowlers, hit 15 fours and 5 sixes in 96 balls. He scored 90 runs from the boundary. He reached his century in 73 balls. This is also the highest score by an Omani batter in an ODI. When he was dismissed in the 35th over, Oman's score was 192 runs.

This is Jatinder’s fifth century in ODIs and also a personal high score. His previous highest score was an unbeaten 118 against Papua New Guinea in League 2 in 2022. This is his second century against Nepal. In the last circle of League 2, he scored 107 runs off 62 balls against Nepal at home in Muscat in 2021.
Jatinder, along with Ashish Odedara, added 80 runs for the first wicket to give Oman a strong start. The partnership was broken when Sandeep Lamichhane dismissed Odedara in the 15th over. Odedara scored 23 runs in 48 overs with 1-1 fours and a six. Dipendra Singh Airi bowled debutant Nadeem Khan for 1 run.
Hamad Mirza scored 30 runs in 47 balls. He was dismissed by Dipendra after hitting 4 fours. Aryan Bista and Jiten Ramanandi shared a 52-run partnership in 43 balls for the fifth wicket. Sandeep bowled Bista for 35 runs. He hit 3 fours and 1 six in 35 balls. Vinayak Shukla was dismissed for 23 runs in 17 balls. Ramanandi scored 43 runs in 43 balls and hit 4 fours and 1 six. Sompal took the most wickets for Nepal with 4 wickets. He spent 59 runs in 9 overs. Sandeep and Dipendra took 2 wickets each. Sandeep scored 24 runs in 10 overs and Dipendra scored 56 runs in 9 overs.
This is Oman's first win in this series. Nepal had defeated UAE by 37 runs in the first match. Oman, on the other hand, lost to UAE by 25 runs in the first match. Oman is in third place with 31 points in 26 matches and Nepal is in seventh place with 14 points in 22 matches. The top four of the eight-nation League 2 are scheduled to directly qualify for the World Cup qualifiers. This defeat has made Nepal's chances of making it to the top four even more difficult.
Oman's innings was played in bright sunshine, while clouds were covering the sky before Nepali batting began, indicating heavy rain. Considering the adverse weather conditions, Oman had started the spin attack from the second over, hoping to bowl 20 overs quickly and get a result. Devrehate spinner Shakil Ahmed dismissed Kushal Bhurtel lbw for 1 run in the first ball of the second over. Another opener, Asif Sheikh, scored 19 runs in 25 balls with 2 fours.
Captain Rohit Poudel was out for 10 and Bashir for 1. Bhim Sarki was out for 28. Bhim hit 3 fours in 56 balls. Bhim completed his 1000 runs in ODIs. Arif Sheikh was out for 14. Dipendra played another half-century innings. He hit 7 fours and 1 six in 62 balls before being out in the 36th over.
Gulshan Jha was at the crease when play was stopped with 14 runs including 2 fours in 17 balls and Sompal was at the crease with 2 runs in 8 balls. Nadeem took 3 wickets for Oman. He cost 42 runs in 10 overs. Shakil took 2 wickets for 16 runs in 8 overs with 1 maiden and Mohammad Imran and Wasim Ali took 1 wicket each.
‘The way the wicket was playing in the morning, I think we let Oman score 20-25 runs less. The target given by Oman was within reach, but our start was not good,’ said Sompal, ‘The weather also did not cooperate with us, seeing the possibility of rain, the target was to play 20 overs without losing a wicket. In an attempt to save the wicket, we could not even score a run.’
