Bagmati Youth Club of Sarlahi has started the inaugural match at the Martyrs Memorial Stadium in Bagmati Rural Municipality-4 on Thursday, defeating the host Bagmati Sports Development Committee 3-0.
Sujan Gurung scored in the 31st minute, Raju Lo in the 68th minute, and Anish Maharjan in the 71st minute in Bagmati's victory. Gurung, who scored the first goal for Bagmati, was declared the Player of the Match. He received Rs 10,000.
Bagmati Youth will compete with Church Boys United, Lalitpur, who are also the winners of the seventh edition, for a place in the semi-finals. Church Boys have received a bye from Group A.
Under the competition, Tribhuvan Army Club Kathmandu and Nawa Janajagruti Club of Bara will play on Friday, Departmental Armed Police Force's APF and Chitlang FC Kathmandu on the 19th, Friends Club of Lalitpur and Planning Boys United on the 21st, and Machhindra Club Kathmandu, which received a bye on the 22nd, will play the winner of APF and Chitlang. The semi-finals of the competition will be held on the 23rd and 24th, while the final match will be held on Baisakh 26th.
The winner of the competition will receive 1 million rupees and the runner-up 5 million rupees. The best player will receive 101 thousand rupees, the best players in each category will receive 25-25 thousand, and the player who is the man of the match in each match will receive 10-10 thousand rupees.
