Preparations for the third rapid and second blitz national chess championship have been completed in memory of the founding president of the Kshetrapati Club, Ramhari Krishna Manandhar, from 16-18 Baisakh.
At a press conference on Monday, Kshetrapati Club President Gopal Mali said that the winning players of the competition to be held on the occasion of the club's anniversary will be awarded 300,000 rupees.
Tournament coordinator Gopal Mali has announced that the winning players of the third rapid will be awarded 200,000 rupees.
The first place in the men's open category will receive 35,000 rupees, the second place 25,000 rupees and the third place 15,000 rupees and the first place in the women's category will receive 10,000 rupees, the second place 7,000 rupees and the third place 5,000 rupees. Awards will be given to 27 players in various categories.
Out of the 100,000 rupees awarded in the second national blitz competition, it is said that the first place will receive 15,000 rupees, the second place 10,000 rupees, the third place 8,000 rupees and the women's category will receive 5,000 rupees, 3,000 rupees and 2,000 rupees respectively. 17 players will be awarded prizes in each category.
Gopal Mali said that awards will also be given to the winners of the categories: Veterans over 55 years old, Youth Juniors under 12, 14, 16 years old, Rated under 1600, and Under 1800.
Nepal Chess Federation President Herakaji Maharjan said that 200 top players will participate in the national rapid and blitz chess competition.
Chief judge FIDE arbitrator Soraj Tamrakar informed that there will be 9 rounds of rapid and 11 rounds of blitz matches under the Swiss league system.
