Sanam Gurung of Tanahun has emerged first in the marathon from Manakamana Temple to Gorkha Durbar. Gurung became the first by completing the 42.195 km distance from Manakamana to Gorkha Durbar on Monday in 2 hours and 59 minutes.

Similarly, Safal Lama of Kaski became the second by completing the distance in 3 hours and 10 minutes, and Chetnath Chalise of Kaski became the third by completing the distance in 3 hours and 28 minutes. Santosh Pariyar of Parbat became the fourth and Anjan Poudel of Gorkha became the fifth. 

Sapana Gurung of Kaski became the first in the women's category by completing the distance in 4 hours and 51 minutes. Bibika Kumal of Tanahun became the second by completing the distance in 4 hours and 59 minutes, and Dolmaya Mahato of Nawalpur became the third by completing the distance in 5 hours and 27 minutes. 

The first place winners in both the men's and women's categories in the marathon received a cash prize of Rs 55,000/55,000.  The second placer received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the third placer received Rs 20,000, according to the District Sports Development Committee.

The marathon started from Manakamana Temple and passed through Taklung-Tinmane-Ghairung-Namjung-Kaulebhangar-Bunkot-Dhunggadhe-Ahale Bhanjyang-Barah Temple, Hospital Chowk-Harmatari-Bus Park-BP Chautara-Thulo Agan-Satipipal-Gairikuwa before ending at Hanuman Than (Gorakhkali Temple).
