Jason Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled brilliantly as Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by nine wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Monday.

Delhi, who came in to bat after losing the toss, were all out for 75 runs in 16.3 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This was Delhi's third lowest score in the IPL. Delhi had scored 264 runs on the same wicket on Saturday, which Punjab Kings had completed with 7 balls to spare.

Defending champions Bangalore won the match by scoring 77 runs in 6.3 overs. Captain Devdutt Padikkal remained unbeaten on 34 off 13 balls and Virat Kohli on 23 off 15 balls. Padikkal hit three fours and a six, while Kohli hit one four. Kohli hit two consecutive sixes off T Natarajan to score the winning runs. In the process, Kohli became the first player to reach 9,000 runs in the IPL. Jacob Bethell scored 20 runs off 11 balls, hitting 1 four and 2 sixes, before being dismissed by Kyle Jamieson.

Earlier, Delhi had made a very poor start. Delhi had already lost 6 wickets after scoring 8 runs in 4 overs. After Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar took 3 wickets each, Delhi reached 13-6 in the first 6 overs of the powerplay, which is the lowest score in the powerplay in the IPL.

Delhi was in danger of matching the negative record of 49 runs, which was once in the name of Bengaluru, the lowest IPL record. Abhishek Porel scored 33 runs off 30 balls, David Miller scored 19 runs off 18 balls and Jamieson scored 12 runs off 13 balls to avert Delhi's threat.

Delhi's batsmen started to fall in turn after Bhuvneshwar bowled debutant Sahil Prakash in the second ball of the match. KL Rahul and Nitish Rana were out 1-1, Sameer Rizvi and captain Axar Patel were out for nil and Tristan Stubbs was out for 5 runs.

Hazlewood took 4 wickets for 12 runs in 3.3 overs and Bhuvneshwar took 3 wickets for 5 runs in 3 overs. Rasikh Salam, Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya took 1 wicket each.
