The third Mayor's Cup inter-city cricket tournament is to be held in Itahari from Baisakh 15 to 21. 

According to the organizer Ideal Sports Academy, the tournament will be held at the Janata Cricket Park Sports Ground in Itahari-9. The tournament will be played on a 20/20 over knockout basis, as per the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC). A total of 12 teams will participate in the tournament and a total of 11 matches will be played. 

The participating teams include three teams from Itahari Sub-metropolitan City, Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Inaruwa Municipality of Sunsari, Duhabi Municipality, Barahakshetra Municipality, Mechinagar Municipality (Jhapa), Triyuga Municipality (Udayapur), Katahari Rural Municipality of Morang and Sunbarshi Municipality. 

The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 75,000 in cash, while the runner-up will receive Rs 40,000. The ‘Player of the Series’ will be awarded Rs 7,000 in cash, the best batsman and bowler Rs 4,000 each. The ‘Man of the Match’ will be awarded Rs 1,500 in cash for each match, the organizer has stated. 

Sunsari District Cricket Association President and Tournament Coordinator CP Poudel informed that the tournament is being organized in collaboration with Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City and with the support of Koshi Province Cricket Association.

The organizer has expressed confidence that the tournament will help in the development of cricket at the local level, talent identification and player production. Biratnagar Metropolitan City had won the title of both the previous editions.
