Defending champion New Road Team (NRT) Kathmandu Rolling Club Dhulabari Jhapa has entered the final of the third Ilam Gold Cup football tournament in Ilam. In the last semi-final held on Thursday, NRT defeated Rolling Club 4-3 in a tiebreaker to enter the final.

The decision was made by the trybacker after both teams played 1-1 in the scheduled 90 minutes. NRT scored 4 goals in the tiebreaker while Rolling Club scored only 3 goals. In the match, NRT's Vigyan Khadka scored an early lead in extra time before half-time.

Rolling Club's Phaguram Chaudhary, who became aggressive after the break, scored a goal in the 81st minute to level the game. Goalkeeper Vishal Sunuwar proved decisive as NRT players showed restraint in the tiebreaker. Sunuwar, who performed well, was named the 'Man of the Match'.

NRT will now compete for the title with Machhindra Football Club in the final on Saturday.

The winner of the competition will receive a prize of Rs 1 million and the runner-up will receive Rs 5 million, according to the organizers. Eight teams from Nepal and Malaysia competed in the competition.
