Nepal will bat first in the first Twenty20 International against the UAE. Nepal captain Dipendra Singh Airi won the toss and elected to field against the UAE at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Monday.

Nepal is playing its first Twenty20 International match under Dipendra's captaincy.

He is Nepal's fifth captain in Twenty20 Internationals. Dipendra has been given the responsibility of leading Nepal in place of Rohit Poudel.

Fast bowler Hemant Dhami is making his Twenty20 International debut. Hemant had made his One Day International debut against Canada in 2024.

Along with Dipendra and Hemant, Kushal Bhurtel, Arjun Saud, Sandeep Jora, Kushal Malla, Bashir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Nandan Yadav, Sher Malla, Sandeep Lamichhane are playing from Nepal .

Batsman Malla and wicketkeeper-batsman Arjun is making his comeback to the Nepali team in the Twenty20 Internationals from this UAE series . After Nepal's poor performance in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup Asia-Pacific qualifiers held in Oman in October, Malla was not included in the Nepali team for the Twenty20 World Cup in India .

Arjun has not played a Twenty20 International . He last played an ODI against Canada in 2024 . Arjun will play the role of wicketkeeper in Asif's absence .
