Defending champion Ganni FC Pokhara has won the ninth Smart Village Invitational Gold Cup title by defeating Pokhara's Bouddha Shanti Club Ramghat by a wide margin of 4-0.
Ganni performed brilliantly against Ramghat in the final match on Monday at the Swargbhoomi Stadium in Qholasothar Rural Municipality-3, Ghalegaun.
Winner Ganni FC received a gold cup, medal and certificate along with Rs 8 lakh. Runner-up Ramghat received Rs 5 lakh, medal and certificate.
In the opening 10 minutes of the final match, Sandeep Rana Magar opened the account by scoring a goal from Ganni's Krishna Bahadur Ale's pass from the penalty area. Ramghat not only failed to score for 40 minutes of the first half, but also failed to score when shooting. Dinesh Henjan scored in the opening 7 minutes of the second half to put Ramghat under pressure. Krishna Bahadur Ale added another goal in the 8th minute of the game 1 minute later. Tikaraj Gurung scored another goal in the 10th minute of the game, completely frustrating Ramghat.
Ganni goalkeeper Deep Karki was declared the man of the match and received Rs 2,000 and a trophy. Roshan Chantyal of Bouddha Shanti Club Ramghat was the best player during the game, and Dinesh Henjan of Ganni, scoring 6 goals, became the top scorer. Both received Rs 10,000 and a trophy. Henjan scored a hat-trick by scoring 3 goals in the first home game of the tournament against Nalma-11, Besisahar.

The 'Ninth Smart Village Invitational Gold Cup' football competition started on New Year's Day, Baisakh 1, in Ghalegaun, known as Smart Village.
