Nepal is set to field different captains in Twenty20 and One-Day International cricket. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Friday named Dipendra Singh Airi as the captain for the upcoming international cricket series in T20Is and Rohit Poudel as the captain for the ODIs.
Nepal will play two Twenty20 Internationals against the UAE under Dipendra's leadership and the World Cup Cricket League 2 series against the UAE and Oman under Rohit's captaincy. Rohit has not been included in Nepal's Twenty20 team, while Dipendra is the vice-captain in the ODI team. Nepal is playing two Twenty20 Internationals against the UAE on Monday and Tuesday.
Nepal's Twenty20 squad to play against UAE includes Deependra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Sandeep Jora, Arif Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Lokesh Bam, Nandan Yadav, Santosh Yadav, Arjun Saud, Hemant Dhami, Shahab Alam and Sher Malla. Pratish GC, Narayan Joshi and Rashid Khan are in the alternates.
Nepal last played the World Cup in Twenty20 in Mumbai, India two months ago. Rohit, Asif Sheikh, Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Lalit Rajbanshi from the team that played the World Cup, have not been included in the Nepali squad for the series against UAE.
Similarly, along with Rohit and Dipendra, the Nepali players included in League 2 are Kushal Bhurtel, Asif Sheikh, Bhim Sarki, Arif Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, Binod Bhandari, Nandan Yadav, Arjun Kumal and Karan KC. Hemant Dhami, Sher Malla, Rijan Dhakal, Ishan Pandey, Dev Khanal are in the alternates.
The League 2 series involving UAE and Oman will be held from April 25 to May 10.
