'We had set the registration period until Wednesday (Baisakh 2), but as the number of participants was increasing, it was extended by a day, and we have closed the player registration process on Thursday,' said Mahesh Swaran, CEO of Kantipur Media Group, 'This time, there will be the highest participation in the history of the Kantipur Half Marathon, and many young people will participate. This has made us very excited.’

According to Swar, this time chips will be used in each player to get ‘accurate timing’ in the half marathon category.

The distance of the Kantipur Half Marathon will be 21.1 km. Both the male and female winners will win a prize of Rs 150,000 each. Those who finish second to sixth will win Rs 75, 50, 30, 20 and 10,000 respectively. With the technical support of the Nepal Athletics Association, the winner of the wheelchair race of the competition will win Rs 35,000, the second will win Rs 25,000 and the third will win Rs 15,000.

The top three male and female winners in the Corporate and Influencer and College Run categories will receive various prizes and gift hampers. From this year, everyone who completes the race will be awarded a ‘finisher’s medal’.

The winner of the College Run will get the opportunity to watch the IPL final. All the arrangements, including airfare, will be provided by Extreme Energy, as Sonia Rana, Business Head of Extreme Energy Drinks, had earlier informed.

The Kantipur Half Marathon, which will start from Tinkune, where Kantipur's office is located, will pass through Tinkune, Koteshwor, Jadibuti, Lokanthali, Gatthaghar, Thimi, Sallaghari, and will end at Jagati Chowk and Koteshwor, Tinkune. The Corporate and Influencer Race will start from Tinkune, return from Lokanthali bridge, pass through Koteshwor and end at Tinkune. The wheelchair race, which will start from Tinkune, will reach Koteshwor and end at Tinkune. The College Run will start from Tinkune, pass through Koteshwor, reach Gatthaghar Chowk and return on the same route.  

The celebration partner of Kantipur Half Marathon is KFC and Pizza Hut, the technical partner is Nepal Athletics Association, the hospital partner is Frontline Hospital, and the food partner is Food Management and Trading Company.

Last year, in the 13th edition, Khadak Bahadur Khadka of Tribhuvan Army Club was the champion in the men's category and Santoshi Shrestha of Dhading was the champion in the women's category. Kanchhi Maya Koju has won the women's title of Kantipur Half Marathon the most times, five times, while runner Hari Kumar Rimal has won the men's title four times.
