Bhuvan Nagarkoti, along with Neeraj Tamang, Rame Magar, Sanjay Lama, Jayaram Shrestha, Ravi Khadka, Dinesh Prajapati and Tanka Bahadur Karki, reached the quarterfinals of the Surya Nepal NPGA Match Play on Wednesday.
Second-seeded Bhuvan won the most comfortable match at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Wednesday. He defeated 15th-seeded Krishnaman Rajbahak 7/6. Bhuvan, who won on the 12th hole, will face Tanka Bahadur Karki in the quarterfinals. Bhuvan had won three consecutive Surya Nepal Tour tournaments.
10th-seeded Tanka defeated 7th-seeded Dhan 2/0. Tanka won on the 18th hole in a tight contest between the two. Nepal's number one golfer Neeraj secured a place in the last eight by defeating 16th seed Surya Prasad Sharma 3/2. After winning the 16th hole, he will play veteran golfer Rame Magar in the quarterfinals. Rame, seeded ninth, defeated eighth seed Bhuvan Kumar Rokka 1/0.
Third seed Dinesh Prajapati easily defeated 14th seed Balabhadra Rai 6/4. Dinesh will play Ravi Khadka in the quarterfinals. Sixth seed Ravi defeated 11th seed Deepak Magar 4/2.
Fourth seed Sanjay defeated 13th seed Ramesh Adhikari 3/2. Sanjay will play against Jayaram Shrestha to reach the semifinals. Jayaram reached the last eight after getting a walkover. Jayaram got a bye after 12th seed Pradeep Lama was absent.
The top 16 players of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25 Order of Merit competed in the three-day tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 100,000, while the second, third and fourth place players will receive Rs 75,000, Rs 56,000 and Rs 42,000 respectively.
Similarly, the four players who reached the quarterfinals will receive Rs 18,000 each and the players who were eliminated in the first round will receive Rs 10,000 each.
