India emerged as the winner and Sri Lanka as the runner-up from Group 'A'. Pakistan and Nepal secured their place in the semi-finals by finishing first and second respectively from Group 'B'. India will play Nepal and Sri Lanka against Pakistan in the semi-finals.
The team that wins the semi-finals will qualify for the Asian finals to be held in Singapore from September 15 to 20. Apart from Bangladesh, 6 South Asian countries are competing in the boys' section. The participating teams were divided into 2 groups and played on a league-cum-knockout basis.
A 2-2 match was played in boys/girls on Wednesday at the tennis court in Satdobato. Both the teams from Nepal competed. Nepal was defeated in both with a score of 3-0.
Pakistan defeated Nepal in the boys' singles. In the singles, Pakistan's Muhammad Ayan defeated Sabyajung Karki 6-0, 6-2 and Muhammad Gill defeated Arit Malla 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets. In the doubles, the pair of Muhammad Faizan and Gill defeated the pair of Shahansh Basnet and Sabyajung 6-2, 6-1. In the boys' singles, India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0.
India and Maldives won the round-robin league of the 5-nation girls' singles. India defeated Nepal 3-0. In singles, India's P Chatterjee defeated Arya Poudel 6-2, 6-1 and India's Ashish Kaur defeated Sara Pant 6-0, 6-2. In doubles, India's Chaudhary and Ashish defeated Naira Ghale and Sara Pant 4-6, 6-3, 10-4. Maldives won 3-0 over Pakistan.
In the girls' section, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal, who played 2-2, won 2, 2 and 1 matches respectively. Maldives and Pakistan have played 3-3 matches. Maldives has won 1 while Pakistan is winless. In girls' section, the top two teams will also qualify for the Asian finals.
