The second quarterfinal of the 16th International Invitational Itahari Gold Cup Football Tournament is being played between defending champions Machindra Football Club and Jhapa-11 today. The match will start at 6:30 pm at the Itahari Stadium. The winner of today's match will face Yuba Samaj Morang in the semifinals on Friday. Yuba Samaj has already defeated Just Zone FC Nigeria in the opening match and made it to the last four. Machindra, who are participating in the Itahari Gold Cup for the second time, and Jhapa-11 had met in the quarterfinals in the previous edition as well. At that time, Machindra had won a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Jhapa-11 is preparing to take the field with the aim of avenging the same defeat.

Meanwhile, Machindra is on a strategy to forget the defeat it suffered in the recent Virat Gold Cup by maintaining its dominance over Jhapa. Machindra had lost to departmental team Nepal Police Club in sudden death in the Virat Gold Cup last night.

The winner of the competition, which will run until April 7, will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 million and the runner-up will receive a prize of Rs 5 million.
