In the first day's match at Swargbhoomi Stadium, defending champion Ganni FC Pokhara defeated home team Nalma-11 Besisahar by a margin of 4-0.
Nalma, which became the runner-up in the 33rd edition of the Triveni Cup held at the Sahaji Sports Ground in Besisahar last month, has been participating in Ghalegaun under the name of Nalma-11. The team plays under the name of Langdidevi in the Triveni Cup.
Dinesh Henjan scored a hat-trick in Ganni's victory. He was named 'Man of the Match'. He scored in the opening 7th minute of the game and scored in the 8th and 24th minutes of the second half. Sajin Magar added a goal for Ganni in the last 40 minutes of the first half. Ganni Football Club had entered the field with 2 national team players.
The ninth Smart Village Invitational Gold Cup, which was organized by inviting 12 teams from all over the country, will be held for a week. Inaugurating the game, former minister and CPN-UML Vice President Prithvisubba Gurung said that rural tourism and mass tourism can be developed through sports. A football fair has been organized every year on Baisakh 1 at the Swargabhoomi Stadium in Ghalegaun, which is known as Baisakh Bazaar. After the competition could not be held regularly last year, the Smart Village Gold Cup was started in BS 2073 at the initiative of Uttarkanya United Youth Club.
According to the secretary of the organizing committee, Umal Bahadur BK, after the festival was stopped in Ghalegaun last year, the Tourism Management Committee, Smart Village Ghalegaun has brought this forward as a festival. This is the third year that the Smart Village Gold Cup has been organized by inviting football clubs from all over the country.
