The 16th International Invitational Itahari Gold Cup Football Tournament is starting today.
The opening match of the competition to be held at 6:30 pm today is between Just Zone Football Club, Nigeria and Yuba Samaj Morang.
The first match, which will be held at night, is expected to add excitement to the audience, said Keshav Karki, the chairman of the organizing Rastriya Jagriti Club. The winner will receive a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 1 million, while the runner-up will receive Rs 5 million.
Similarly, the best player will be awarded Rs 10 million, and the 'Man of the Match' of each match will be awarded Rs 10,000. The best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and coach will be awarded Rs 20,000 each, and the highest scorer will be awarded Rs 25,000.
Eight teams from Nepal and abroad are participating in the tournament organized by Rastriya Jagriti Club, Itahari. The competition will run until Baisakh 7.
