The Lumbini Provincial Government is organizing the Chief Minister's Cup provincial-level women's and men's volleyball tournament in Dang from Wednesday.
All necessary preparations, including the playground, have been completed for the tournament to be held from Chaitra 25 to 28. Tirandaj Gautam, Member Secretary of the Provincial Sports Council, Lumbini, said that the playground, as well as other management, accommodation and technical preparations for the tournament have been completed. He informed that women's and men's volleyball teams from each district of the province will participate in the tournament. Each team has been arranged to have 10 players and one coach. The game will be conducted as per the rules of the International Volleyball Federation and the competition will be held in a league-cum-knockout system.
Gautam said that Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya will inaugurate the tournament. The winners of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000, medals, trophies and certificates. The second-place team will receive Rs 65,000, the third-place team will receive Rs 35,000 and the consolation prize will receive Rs 15,000 along with a certificate. The best player will be awarded Rs 10,000 and the best player in five disciplines will be awarded Rs 5,000 each.
The tournament, which will be held with the slogan 'Sports for Health, Sports for the Nation', is expected to develop volleyball at the provincial level and enhance the capabilities of players. Last year, Gulmi came first in the men's category and Palpa in the women's category. This time, the men's and women's competitions will be held simultaneously. Last year, the men's competition was held in Sandhikharka, Arghakhanchi, and the women's competition was held in Ghorahi, Dang.
