The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has earned a net profit of more than Rs 90 million from the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The CAN central committee meeting held on Monday made public the income and expenditure of the Premier League that was concluded four months ago.

Lumbini Lions defeated Sudurpaschim Royals by 6 wickets in the NPL, which includes eight franchise teams, to win the title. According to the public summary of income and expenditure, CAN has earned an income of more than Rs 473.6 million in the NPL. Of this, more than Rs 219.6 million was spent on the NPL project. The NPL's profit has been more than Rs 253.9 million. According to the agreement to share 50 percent of the net profit between CAN and the eight franchise teams, it is said that Rs 161.8 million will be provided. After deducting all this, CAN has made a net profit of Rs 92.2 million. 219.9 million.

In the first edition, the eight franchise teams received Rs 31.6 million, while CAN's net profit was only Rs 24.6 million. CAN has earned almost 4 times more profit than the first edition. 

CAN is going to spend $500,000 annually on women's cricket development. It has been decided to spend the amount on women's cricket development in accordance with the funding guidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC). 

As the contract agreement with Tribhuvan University for the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur is about to expire, it has been decided to request the Government of Nepal to extend the period and hand over the Tallo Mulpani Cricket Ground, which is currently operated under the National Sports Council, to CAN. 

CAN general meeting in Biratnagar

CAN's general meeting will be held in Biratnagar on April 27 and 28. It has also been decided to extend the tenure of 20 districts whose 4-year terms have expired until mid-Jeshtha. After the general meeting to be held in Biratnagar, those districts will have to hold elections by mid-Jeshtha. 

CAN has also decided to approve the annual program and budget for 2026.
