Tehrathum has won the special Mahashivratri Cup football tournament that was postponed due to the House of Representatives elections.
The tournament held in Maiwakhola Rural Municipality-3 Sanghu was organized on the occasion of Ram Navami by naming it after Shivaratri. Tehrathum won the title by defeating Dhankuta in the final match of the tournament.
The organizer, Jalajle Club Secretary Chiranjivi Chongwang, informed that Tehrathum's Myanglung Sporting Club won the title by defeating Dhankuta's Sangurigadhi by a 3-2 goal margin in the final.
Sameer Rai opened the account for Tehrathum, while Dheeraj Limbu scored the second and Dimple Bhandari scored the decisive goal.
Bikash Pariyar and Prajwal Thapa scored one goal each for Dhankuta, but it was not enough for the victory. Tehrathum received Rs 261,000 in cash and runner-up Dhankuta received Rs 131,111 in cash.
Prem Limbu and Samir Limbu were named the best goalkeeper and best player of the tournament, while Vikas Pariyar of Dhankuta was the top scorer and received Rs 3,000 each.
