The Khajura Gold Cup football tournament is going to be held in Khajura, which has contributed to the sports sector in the country, with an international team.

The first Khajura Gold Cup is going to be organized by New Danfe Sports Club and under the patronage of Khajura Rural Municipality. The organizing club has stated that preparations for the Gold Cup to be held from Chaitra 30 have been intensified. The organizers have informed that preparations for the Gold Cup have reached the final stage. Club President Balaram Khatri said that 8 teams, including two foreigners, will participate in the Khajura Gold Cup.

According to him, Sankata Club Kathmandu, APF Club, Church Boys Club, Nigerian Zone Club, Lucknow Sahara Club India, Gorkha Boys Sports Club Butwal, Kankre Bihar Club Surkhet and the organizer New Danfe Sports Club Khajura will participate in the Gold Cup.

The winner will receive 700,000 and the second place will receive 400,000 along with a trophy, said Chairman Khatri. The best player and the best player in each category will be awarded with cash. Club Chairman Khatri said that it is estimated that 735,000 will be spent to complete the Gold Cup.

1.7 million from Khajura Rural Municipality, 700,000 from Lil Bahadur Thapa, a local social worker from Khajura 'D' village living in the US, 700,000 from Chitlang FC operator Ankit Thapa, and the rest will be raised from the organizers' internal resources, said Chairman Khatri. The organizers expect more than 50,000 spectators to watch the Gold Cup.

Speaking at a press conference, Khajura Rural Municipality Chairman Dambar BK Tufan said that sports would contribute to making Khajura known in the country and abroad. Stating that the local government has prioritized sports tourism, he informed that arrangements would be made to take foreign players coming to Khajura to tourist spots such as Thakurdwar in Bardiya and Banke National Park.

Member Secretary of the Sports Development Council, Chhabi Bista, said that it is the dream of football fans to win the Gold Cup in Khajura and he is confident that this dream will be fulfilled soon.

Khajura Rural Municipality Education and Youth Sports Branch Chief, Khagendra Malla, mentioned that since sports play a major role in preventing youth from falling into addiction, the Gold Cup will develop football and instill interest in the youth towards the sport.

The competition will be held at the football field at the Mini Stadium ‘D’ Village in Khajura.
