The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) is set to hold the 10th Prime Minister's Cup NVA Women's and Men's Volleyball League in Baisakh.
The competition to be held at the Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwor from Baisakh 10-19 will feature 8 teams for men and 6 for women, the NVA said in a press conference on Saturday. The association, which has been organizing this competition annually, was scheduled to be held in Chaitra.
Help Nepal Sports Club, Tribhuvan Army, Nepal Police Club, APF Club, Khilji Youth Club (Lumbini), West Rukum Volleyball Team, Koshi Province and Budhanilkantha Club will participate in the men's side of the competition.
New Diamond Youth Sports Club, Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Sudurpaschim Province, Everest Volleyball Club and Tribhuvan Army Club will participate in the women's side. It is stated that each team will be allowed to have a maximum of 3 foreign players.
The association's president Jitendra Bahadur Chand informed that the prize money for both men and women will be the same and this time the highest. The winner will receive 1 million rupees, the runner-up 500,000 rupees and the third-place team 250,000 rupees. President Chand said that the association has set the largest prize money in the history of Nepali volleyball with the aim of strengthening the club and players financially and commercializing the game.
The best player will also be given 60,000 rupees and the best server, blocker, libero, spiker, setter and coach in each department will be given 30,000 rupees each. It is said that players from teams outside Kathmandu will be provided with 1,200 rupees per person per day and players from within the valley will be provided with 300 rupees per day for lunch. The association has stated that the cost of organizing the competition will be around 1.5 million rupees.
