Milan Rai and Sunsari Rokaya have won the Budhanilkantha/Shivpuri Open Trail Race. Milan won the men's and Sunsari won the women's titles in the 15-kilometer race held on Saturday.
Milan completed the distance in 1 hour 35 minutes 46 seconds in the race organized by Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward 3 with the aim of promoting domestic tourism. Pratap Thamsuhang (1 hour 36 minutes 04 seconds) came second and Karan Rawal (1 hour 36 minutes 46 seconds) came third. Lokendra Rai came fourth and Bishal Rai came fifth.
Sunsari took 1 hour 58 minutes 04 seconds to complete the distance. Rajya Lakshmi Rawal (2 hours 02 minutes 07 seconds) came second and Geeta Nepali (2 hours 10 minutes 22 seconds) came third. Ashma Bik finished fourth and Manju Sunuwar finished fifth.
The top three finishers in both groups received Rs 40,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. The fourth and fifth place players in both groups were awarded Rs 5,000 each.
The winners were awarded by the chairman of the organizing ward 3, Akash Dhital, and Olympian runner Santoshi Shrestha.
The competition coordinator of the ward 3, Bikash Tamang, said that 240 people participated in the race. The race, which started from the Budhanilkantha temple premises, circled around various parts and ended at the Budhanilkantha temple premises.
