Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 1-0 in the U-20 SAFF Championship on Wednesday with a decisive goal by Subash Bam. This was Nepal's second consecutive win in the competition. With the win in Group 'A', Nepal's semi-final chances have strengthened. Nepal had defeated Bhutan in the first match. Nepal has 6 points and is at the top of the group.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, was limited to 3 points after its first defeat. Subash scored in the 24th minute of the match at the National Stadium in Male, Maldives. He made good use of captain Dharmendra Kunwar's pass for this. Nepal was almost in control of the entire match, but the team could not score any more goals. Luck was not on the team's side either.

Subash's two shots hit the post. Subash's shot hit the post early in the first half and came back. Dharmendra's header also hit the crossbar on the rebound. Subash's other shot hit the post in the second half. Sri Lanka had only one notable attack throughout the entire match, but it could not be sustained. Nepal will now face Maldives in the final group match on Friday.
