MSMT Cricket Academy Naitanwa and Lumbini Khukuri Club won the first Batauli Cup T-20 cricket tournament being held here on Monday. MSMT defeated Response Team Lumbini by 7 wickets and Khukuri defeated Nepathya Tilottama Cricket Academy by 8 runs.
Batting after winning the toss at the Siddhartha Cricket Ground, Response scored 128 runs for the loss of all wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Ramjan Ali scored 30, Karam Hussain 29, Nitin Tripathi 20 and Angad Yadav 19 runs for them. MSMT's Ans Singh took 3, Pradhuman Nisha 2 and Rittik, Anku Yadav and Raj Yadav took 1-1 wicket each.
In reply, MSMT scored 129 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 18 overs. Aryan Agrahari scored 47, Arman Khan scored 30 not out, Rohit Yadav scored 21 not out and Kamran Khan scored 10 runs. In bowling, Response's Nitin Tripathi, Ajay Gautam and Karam Hussain took 1 wicket each. Aryan Agrahari was named player of the match and received Rs 1,000.
In the second match, Khukuri, who won the toss and elected to bat, scored 92 runs in 18 overs and 4 balls. For them, Iqlaq Ahmed Waris scored 18, Suman Pandey scored 15, Baitullah Khan scored 11 and Pintu Sahni scored 10 runs. In bowling, Nepathya's Laxman Kumal and Sagar Bhandari took 3-3 wickets and Praveen Dhakal and Tulsiram Bhandari took 2-2 wickets.
Chasing a target of 93 runs, Nepathya could only score 84 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Khukuri's Iklakh Ahmed Waris and Pintu Sahni took 2-2 wickets and Roshan Gautam, Baitullah Khan and Jitendra Kewat took 1-1 wickets to stop them. Nepathya's Pratik Bhattarai scored 24, Laxman Kumal scored 22 and Ashutosh Pandey scored 14 runs, but it was not enough for the victory. Iklakh Ahmed Waris was named player of the match and received Rs 1,000.
16 teams from Nepal and India are participating in the competition, which will run until Chaitra 15. According to the organizers, the winning team of the competition will receive Rs 50,000 in cash, a trophy, a medal and a certificate, while the runner-up will receive Rs 25,000 in cash.
