The third Phidim Veterans Gold Cup will be held from Chaitra 25 to 28. According to the organizer, the Phidim Veterans Club, the competition will be held at the playground of Jorpokhari Secondary School in Hilihang Rural Municipality, Panchthar.
The organizers informed through a press conference on Saturday that 8 teams, including 1 from India and 7 from Nepal, will participate in the competition. Where teams from Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and India, including the organizer, are confirmed to participate.
The winner of the competition will receive 125,000 rupees in cash, a trophy, medal and certificate, while the runner-up will receive 75,000 rupees in trophy, medal and certificate, said Roshan Shrestha, president of the club. According to him, the 'Man of the Match' of each match will be awarded 2,500 rupees. In addition, cash prizes of 3,000 rupees have been kept for various category awards. The organizer has stated that the best player of the competition will be awarded 5,000 rupees in cash. Insurance and accommodation of up to 100,000 rupees have been arranged for the participating players and officials.
The organizers say that the competition is being held in the multi-religious tourist area of Jorpokhari with the aim of promoting tourism through sports. The organizers are preparing to hold the competition at an estimated cost of 1.97 million rupees.
