Kapilvastu Municipality Mayor Sudip Poudel has directed disciplinary action against two schools that boycotted the award distribution ceremony of the 8th President's Running Shield competition organized by Kapilvastu Municipality.

The mayor has directed to take action after the players of Kanakmuni Secondary School and Buddhapadma Secondary School, who came first and fourth, boycotted the award distribution ceremony of the competition held at the playground of Buddha Padma Secondary School in the district headquarters, Taulihawa, from Chaitra 1 to 4.

After all the games of the competition were completed, while preparations were being made for the award distribution, the sports teacher and players of Buddha Padma Secondary School filed a verbal complaint claiming that two players of Kanakmuni Secondary School were from outside the school. The award distribution ceremony started two hours late as the dispute escalated after the complaint. After the dispute escalated, both schools boycotted the award distribution ceremony. Before that, the organizer Kapilvastu Municipality had studied the complaint and made a written decision that the players of Kanakmuni Secondary School were official.

Kanakmuni Secondary School won first place in the competition by winning 15 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals. Rastriya Secondary School Bikuli won second place with 3 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals and Sheetla Box Secondary School won third place with 3 gold. Buddhapadma Secondary School was in fourth place with 2 gold, 11 silver and 4 bronze medals.

At the award distribution ceremony, the second-placed Rastriya Secondary School Bikuli was awarded the runner-up cup along with a cash prize of Rs 20,000, and the third-placed Sheetala Box Secondary School was awarded the cup along with a cash prize of Rs 15,000. The first and fourth-placed Kanakmuni Secondary School and Buddhapadma Secondary School did not receive the cash prize, shield and cup.

At the ceremony, Ward No. 1 Chairman Zahid Khan, Ward No. 2 Chairman Prakash Gaire, Ward No. 4 Chairman Rabindra Prasad Tiwari, Ward No. 5 Chairman Direp Chaudhary and Taulihawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Gayadin Kurmi, among others, distributed awards to the players. Players from 18 secondary schools participated in the competition.
