The name of the Nepali Women's League Football will now be associated with the Martyrs' Memorial League. The history of the Martyrs' Memorial League as a football competition is very long. Now, women players will also play under this name.

The Martyrs' Memorial Women's League, with a total of 9 teams participating, is starting on Wednesday. On the first day, there will be two matches in Chyasal. Sankata will face NRT and Jhapa will face Army.

The other teams participating in the competition are Bagmati, Police, APF, Church Boys and ACE Pokhara. At the beginning of the league, they will play against each other, on a round-robin basis. There will be 36 matches in this phase. At the end of that, the top 6 teams will enter the next phase. There will also be 15 matches on a round-robin basis. The competition will not end just like that. After that, there will be a qualifier and two eliminators between the top four teams. And, finally, the final.

Thus, there will be a total of 55 matches in this competition. One team in this league will be relegated. The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has released the schedule for the first round of the tournament. The matches of this round will be held at three venues - Chyasal, Dasharath Stadium and ANFA Complex. Among the teams participating in the post-match conference held on Tuesday on the eve of the tournament, the leading team presented its claim to the title.

Excellent departmental team

This time too, there will be a triangular clash for the title. It will include all three departmental teams. Among them, the strongest will be APF. The police and the army will work to hinder the team's strong title journey. APF head coach Jeevesh Pandey says, 'We are fully prepared for this tournament, both physically and mentally. We have prepared equally well, and there will be no problem with injured players.'

APF captain Anita Basnet claims that her team will play for the title. She believes that the competition will be fierce. She says, 'It will not be easy for us to win the title. Now, not only the departmental teams are strong, other teams will also be equally capable due to foreign players.'

Police assistant coach Rabin Shrestha claims that this time his team is capable of giving a strong challenge to APF. He said, 'We are the ones who will put a complete end to APF's winning streak in Jhapa.'

Army coach Raju Tamang also has the same argument. His team is also capable of presenting a strong challenge to APF. He says, 'We had given a strong challenge against APF in the last match, now it will be even stronger.'

In this way, who will win this time's league will be decided to a large extent by the match between these departmental teams. There will be another team that has the potential to break all this equation. That is, Sankata.

Sankata is strong with foreign players

Each team will be able to field four foreign players in this time's league. It is likely that all three departmental teams will not field foreign players. Sankata is the team that is ready to play depending on foreign players. According to the team's head coach Rabindra Silakar, out of the four foreign players in the team, two are from Ghana, one from Mozambique and one from Myanmar. Therefore, Sankata's game is expected to be worth watching.

Coach Rabindra says, "We will have a strong presence in this competition. We are happy with the team's performance so far. Our initial objective is to reach the top 6, then the top four. Our objective will be to play for the title." After that, the rest of the team will have the same objective, to reach the top 6 if possible, or else avoid relegation.

Preparation for SAFF Championship

This competition will also be a preparation for the Women's SAFF Championship to be held in Goa, India. Therefore, on the one hand, this competition will be an opportunity for the old players to show their presence. On the other hand, it will be an opportunity for the new generation to present their claim in the national league. Since Nepali women's football is on the path of generational change, this league will play the role of a facilitator.
