Santoshi Shrestha and Nirmala KC have emerged winners of the Pink Keyrathon. Olympian Santoshi won the 21.1-kilometer half marathon and Nirmala won the 10-kilometer race.
Santoshi gave no chance to her rivals in the competition held at Jawalakhel Football Ground on Saturday, while Nirmala achieved success by a narrow margin. Santoshi, a runner from Dhading, completed the race in 1 hour 21 minutes 11 seconds. The race, which started from Jawalakhel, reached Pulchowk Harihar Bhavan, Bakhundol, Jhamsikhel, Dhobighat, Balkhu, Kalanki, and ended at Ekantakun before returning to Jawalakhel Ground. Santoshi beat Jumla's Rajya Lakshmi Rawal by more than 7 minutes.
Rajya Lakshmi finished second in 1 hour 28 minutes 1 second and Tribhuvan Army Club's Saraswati Bhattarai came third in 1 hour 29 minutes 59 seconds. Sushila Mahat of APF Club came fourth in 1 hour 31 minutes 02 seconds and Geeta Nepali of Gorkha came fifth in 1 hour 51 minutes 54 seconds.
The top three winners of the Pink Careathon half marathon organized by Laserport Nepal with the aim of women empowerment and raising awareness about breast cancer received prizes of Rs 51,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively. In addition to Nirmala of Army, APF's Asha Raut came second in the 10 km race and Sumitra Chaudhary of Police came third.
Nirmala finished the race in 40 minutes 08 seconds, Asha in 40 minutes 27 seconds and Sumitra in 41 minutes 50 seconds. Varsha Thuma came fourth in 54 minutes 46 seconds, Indramaya Pakhrin came fifth in 57 minutes 24 seconds and Shitu Lama came sixth in 58.56 seconds. The top three winners of the 10 km race were awarded Rs 31, 21 and Rs 11,000 respectively.
Similarly, in the 5-kilometer fun run, Tilumaya Sunuwar, Reshma Kumari Rawal, Sita Rimal and in the 3-kilometer fun run, Suprita Thapa, Gayatri Shrestha and Shangrila Shrestha came first, second and third respectively. Attractive gifts were given to the top 10 people in the fun run.
According to Namaraj Joshi, President of Laserport, about 1,500 people participated. They were made to do Zumba before the run. Singer Janish Joshi, who came from Mumbai, gave a musical performance at the event. This is the sixth edition of the competition, which started as Kathmandu Pinkathon in 2017. This competition, which was organized three times in a row until 2019, was stopped due to Covid. It has been organized continuously since then.
