The 'Asian Games for Run' was held on Saturday to promote and wish for the success of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
The Fun Run organized by the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) under the program of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) ended with a program at Patan Durbar Square.
The Fun Run was attended by about 1,000 people, including athletes and coaches of the relevant sports participating in the Asian Games, former Olympians, officials of sports organizations, and diplomatic figures. The Fun Run started from the NOC headquarters in Satdobato and reached Patan Durbar Square after touring various places.
Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha said that the Fun Run was organized not only to promote the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games but also to convey the message of Nepal's participation in the Asian Games.
NOC General Secretary Rajiv Shrestha thanked all parties for making the Fun Run a success and said that it was a campaign to convey the values and spirit of the Olympics with local community participation.
The Fun Run was also attended by Olympic Council of Asia Deputy Director Binod Kumar Tiwari, Aichi Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee Media Department Director Fumihito Kanaizuka, and Department Manager Manami Okumura.
Various cultural tableaus were also displayed at the closing ceremony of the Fun Run. A quiz session on Asian Games was conducted for the participants.
This is the third consecutive time that the NOC has organized the Olympic Fun Run. Earlier, the Nepal Olympic Committee had also organized fun runs to promote the Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games held in Indonesia in 2018 and the Hangzhou Asian Games held in China in 2022, said NOC Secretary Ram Krishna Shrestha, the coordinator of this time's fun run.
