The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) has announced that it will organize a fun run in Nepal as part of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) program.
The 20th Asian Games will be held in Aichi/Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4. The NOC has stated that the fun run is being held as part of the celebration of the Asian Games held every four years.
The fun run will start from the NOC headquarters in Satdobato at 7:30 am on Saturday. It will reach Patan Durbar Square in Mangalbazar after passing through various locations. It is said that participants will have the opportunity to observe the heritage sites of Patan on the route, which will be about 3 kilometers long.
Asia's largest sports fair, the Asian Games, has a tradition of holding a fun run in most participating countries to promote the Asian Games and establish the values of sportsmanship, unity and participation of the Asian Games. Accordingly, the Nepal Olympic Committee is going to organize the Asiad Fun Run. Chairman Jeevan Ram Shrestha said that the Nepal Olympic Committee has been organizing fun runs ahead of the past Asian Games to maintain this tradition in line with the spirit of the Olympics.
A 5-member Asian Games Fun Run Organizing Committee has been formed under the coordination of NOC Secretary Ram Krishna Shrestha for the fun run. More than a thousand people including players, coaches, Olympians, officials of sports organizations, diplomatic figures, representatives of security agencies, students, media persons and students will participate in the fun run.
Olympic Council of Asia Deputy Director Binod Kumar Tiwari, Aichi/Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee Media and PR Director Fumihito Kanaizuka, and Department Manager Manami Okumura will also be present at the fun run.
Chairman Shrestha informed that 32 sports have been registered from Nepal through the NOC to participate in the 20th Asian Games.
