The first Nagarjuna Deputy Mayor Cup and the 12th Sitapaila Kathmandu District-level Taekwondo Competition are set to begin tomorrow, Friday.
About 600 players from various schools and dojangs will participate in the 2-day competition organized by Sitapaila Taekwondo Dojang with the support of Nagarjuna Municipality, according to Bablu Siwakoti, the chief coach and chairman of the organizing dojang.
The competition will feature 28 gold medals in children, cadet, junior and senior categories in Gyorogi and cadet, junior and senior categories in Poomse.
The top 3 teams in the competition will receive prizes of Rs 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 respectively. The best male/female players will be awarded Rs 10,000 each, said Rajan Bhandari, secretary of the organizing committee.
About Rs 2 million will be spent to run the competition, said Chairman Siwakoti. The game will be played at Khopatol in Nagarjuna-4. The gold medalist of each event will be provided with a full scholarship to study Plus Two at Hriday Niketan in Bafal.
The agreement in this regard has been signed by Chairman Siwakoti and Niketan Principal Karan Singh Goyal.
