Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts got off to a winning start in the Prime Minister's Cup Bagmati Province Men's Regional Tournament on Monday. Ishan Pandey's brilliant all-round performance helped Kathmandu defeat Nuwakot by 59 runs at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

After captain Ishan scored 95 runs, Kathmandu won the toss and elected to bat in a shortened match of 48 overs and scored 245 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Ishan, who was recalled for the national team's closed training after Kathmandu scored 31 runs in the first 5 overs, had already lost Rabin Joshi (10), Rit Gautam (10) and Prasid Jaisi (0), batted brilliantly.

He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in 84 balls. He shared a 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Uttam Thapa Magar. Uttam scored 36 runs in 76 balls and hit 3 fours. Sonu Devkota scored 21 off 23 balls with 1 six, Abhishek Budhaair scored 1, Suman Bik scored 23 off 35 balls with 1 four and a six, Sandeep Parajuli scored 23 off 40 balls with 2 fours. 

Dayanand Mandal remained unbeaten on 6 and Aditya Thapa on 2 runs. Nuwakot's Ishan Pali took 4 wickets. He had spent 52 runs in 8 overs. Afzal Mansur took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs and Bidhan Khatiwada took 2 wickets for 64 runs in 10 overs. 

In reply, Nuwakot could only score 186 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Dinesh Subedi scored the highest 56 runs. He hit 4 fours off 95 balls. Anubhav Khanal scored 39 with 7 fours in 42 balls, captain Rajesh Rimal scored 15 runs, and Ganesh Gautam scored 14 runs. Bidhan remained unbeaten on 23 runs in 63 balls, hitting 2 fours. 

Along with batting, Ishan also shone in bowling. Player of the Match He took 5 wickets for just 19 runs in 9 overs, keeping 1 maiden. Dayanand took 35 runs in 6 overs and Sonu took 2 wickets each in 10 overs, spending 40 runs. 

Lalitpur defeated Bhaktapur by 23 runs at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground. After opener Ronim Tiwari scored 89 runs, Lalitpur scored 266 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Player of the Match Opener Ronim hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in 99 balls. 

Ronim had given Lalitpur a great start by adding 68 runs for the first wicket in 11 overs with captain Ashutosh Ghiraiya. Ashutosh scored 28 runs in 33 balls, including 5 fours. Adil Khan scored 22, Sachin Lekhak scored 30 off 51 balls with 3 fours, Vivek Rana Magar scored 27 off 31 balls with 3 fours and 1 six, Surya Tamang scored 20 off 7 balls with 3 sixes. Bipin Acharya remained unbeaten on 11 runs with 1 four in 10 balls. 

Vishal Sah Kanu took 3 wickets from Bhaktapur. He had spent 47 runs in 6 overs. Active Pratap Karki and Subash Khatri took 2 wickets and Shivam Tiwari took 1 wicket. Active spent 47 runs in 5 overs and Subash 44 runs in 10 overs. 

In reply, Chris Karki scored 93 runs but Bhaktapur were all out for 243 runs in 49.2 overs. Chris, batting at number five, hit 4 fours and a six in 82 balls. Another opener from Bhaktapur, who lost opener Saurabh Sakkarmi for a duck, Ringjin Lama scored 41 runs. He hit 6 fours in 57 balls. 

Subash scored 37 with 3 fours in 60 balls, Shivam scored 25 with 2 fours in 37 balls, Vishal Devkota and Abhinash Basyal were out for 10 runs each. Pankaj Pandey of Lalitpur took 3 wickets. He spent 43 runs in 9 overs. Tilak Raj Bhandari took 38 and Surya took 58 runs in 10 overs, taking 2 wickets each, while Bipin, Ronim and Vivek took 1 wicket each.
