Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts got off to a winning start in the Prime Minister's Cup Bagmati Province Men's Regional Tournament on Monday. Ishan Pandey's brilliant all-round performance helped Kathmandu defeat Nuwakot by 59 runs at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
After captain Ishan scored 95 runs, Kathmandu won the toss and elected to bat in a shortened match of 48 overs and scored 245 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Ishan, who was recalled for the national team's closed training after Kathmandu scored 31 runs in the first 5 overs, had already lost Rabin Joshi (10), Rit Gautam (10) and Prasid Jaisi (0), batted brilliantly.
He hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in 84 balls. He shared a 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Uttam Thapa Magar. Uttam scored 36 runs in 76 balls and hit 3 fours.
