The first Matrubhumi T-10 Inter-School U-14 Cricket Tournament was inaugurated on Wednesday. Former Nepali national cricket team member Sharad Veshavkar and the principal of the host Matrubhumi School, Prakriti KC, jointly inaugurated the tournament. The match will begin on Thursday. Veshavkar and KC also unveiled the trophy on the occasion of the inauguration.
8 student teams are participating in the tournament. The participating teams will be divided into two groups and the matches will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis. The top two teams in the group will advance to the semi-finals.
Group ‘A’ includes Janpremi World School, Vinayak Shiksha Niketan, Global Public School and Gems, and Group ‘B’ includes Galaxy Public School, Sahara School, Akshara and Matrubhumi.
The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the runner-up will receive Rs 25,000. The best player will be awarded a mountain bike, the best batsman a bat, the best bowler a pair of shoes and the ‘man of the match’ of each match will be awarded a trophy.
