Substitute Benjamin Mendy scored the only goal as Manchester United beat Everton 1-0 in the Premier League on Monday. The Slovenian striker scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute.
The win took Michael Carrick's United to 48 points from 27 games and strengthened their grip on fourth place. United are three points ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea. Liverpool are also in sixth place on 45 points.
Everton, who have lost their rhythm in recent times, have not won their last seven home games and are currently ninth in the table with 37 points.
