What you should know

Kathmandu Pink Careathon is scheduled to be held on Falgun 30. This is the sixth edition of the running competition that Leisure Port Nepal started under the name Kathmandu Pinkathon in 2017 with the aim of enhancing women's health, fitness and self-awareness.

This competition, which was organized three times in a row, was stopped after Covid. The competition was organized again in 2024 and 2025. Leisure Port Chief Namraj Joshi believes that about 3,000 participants will participate in the Pink Careathon, which will start from the Jawalakhel Youth Club grounds.

There will be a 21-kilometer (half marathon) and 10-kilometer race in the professional category. The top three finishers in the half marathon will receive prizes of Rs 51, 31 and 21 thousand, and the top three winners in the 10-kilometer category will receive prizes of Rs 31, 21 and 11 thousand, respectively. Joshi said that special prizes will be given to the top ten in the 3 and 5 km races and only non-professional athletes will be allowed to participate in them.

Chief Joshi hopes that there will be a record number of participants in the Pink Care Athon, which is organized with the aim of inspiring women towards a healthy lifestyle. ‘Women should also pay attention to their health in addition to their family, so we have been organizing the Pink Care Athon to raise awareness of them,’ said Joshi. ‘Challenges have been added every year during the organization. But the message it gives is great, so we have been continuing it.’

Sudeep Shrestha, the founding chief of Nepal Cancer Hospital, said that even if you have cancer, it spreads and leads to death if you hide it, such events that increase awareness will help in detecting the disease in time. He said that it is important to give a message to the society now.

Olympian runner Santoshi Shrestha said that women should participate in extracurricular activities, not only for themselves but also for their family, and that running should be the main medium. She is also the winner of the second edition. Usha Rajak, Goodwill Ambassador of Pink Care Athlon, urged people to participate in this event as it carries a big message along with the race.

Ichcha Gurung, President of iWART Nepal, said that Pink Care Athlon is not just a race but an event that provides energy for women. She said that apart from the race, Zumba and other health-related activities will also be held in Pink Care Athlon.
