Matrubhumi School is going to hold the first Matrubhumi Inter-School T-10 Cricket Tournament for the U-14 age group. The tournament, which will start on Thursday, will be inaugurated and the trophy will be unveiled on Wednesday, informed Jayaram Adhikari of the organizing committee at a press conference.
8 student teams will participate in the tournament. The participants will be divided into two groups and played on a league-cum-knockout basis, informed Technical Chief Rabindra Gupta. The top 2 teams in the group will advance to the semi-finals.
The winner will receive a prize of Rs 50,000 and the runner-up will receive Rs 25,000. The best player will be given a mountain bike, the best batter a bat, the best bowler a pair of shoes, and the man of the match of each match will be awarded a trophy.
Matrubhumi Principal Prakriti KC Pant said that the tournament was held with the aim of giving an opportunity to the players of the age group to showcase their talents. She said that another objective is to inspire emerging players and promised to add a girls' category if teams are available in the coming days.
The three-day tournament will be played at the One Day Cricket Academy in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality.
