National women's volleyball team spiker Usha Bhandari has been honored in Rampur, Palpa.

Rampur Municipality and the Municipal Sports Development Committee honored Usha. Rampur Municipality Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa, Deputy Mayor Bal Kumari Thapa, Municipal Sports Development Committee Chairman Kamal Sen and others presented her with the honor.

Usha said that although she was born in the neighboring district of Tanahun, she has family ties to Palpa. 'I am grateful for this honor,' she said, 'I am even more happy to be honored as a player.' She said that she is eager to come and play in the field in Rampur.

Usha from Bhimad-1, Tanahun, started playing volleyball at the age of 12. Her volleyball journey took formal momentum after she enrolled in the Nepal Police School in 2074 BS. Six months after reaching the police school, she got the opportunity to train at the Nepal Police Club. Usha used to play in the all-rounder position. She shared her experience of learning a lot while playing with experienced players in the police. Which she used to the fullest and improved her performance.

Usha made her debut with the national team at the age of 14. She made her debut with the national team at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) held in Kathmandu in December 2076.

Honoring Usha, Rampur Municipality Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa said that the players are the pride and identity of the country and said that it is sad that the state cannot provide them with services.

Municipal Sports Development Committee Chairman Kamal Sen said that the arrival of national-level players participating in various sports in Rampur has inspired new players. ‘Rampur Municipality has done exemplary work in building sports and its infrastructure,’ he said, ‘We will have to move forward by making policy arrangements for the development of sports.’
