Nepali professional tennis player Abhishek Bastola has made a winning start to the UTR Tennis Tournament in Bengaluru, India.
In the tournament that started on the hard court in Bengaluru on Monday, Abhishek defeated Indian player Tarun Karra in straight sets. He won the set 6-4, 6-2. In the first set, Abhishek took the lead from a 2-2 position at one point and took the set in his favor. He won the set in 57 minutes. In the second set, despite the initial lead, Abhishek took the lead from a 2-2 position and won the set in 46 minutes.
Now he will play against India's Neeraj Yashpal on Tuesday.
The 20,000 US dollar prize money tournament under the UTR Pro Tennis Tour is Abhishek's first event of the season. Earlier, he competed in the PTT Phan Thiet in Vietnam in December. Abhishek has played about a dozen and a half tournaments on this tour.
