The second edition of the Himalayan Duo Chess Tournament is scheduled to be held on Saturday. The one-day tournament to be held at the Readers Hub in Bhaktapur will be played in a 'Bughouse format', according to the organizer, Himalayan Chess Academy.

Each team will have two players, at least one of whom must be unrated. Both players cannot be FIDE rated to form a team. However, both players can be unrated. The tournament will be played in 5 rounds based on the Swiss system, the academy said.

The team that wins the title in the Himalayan Duo, which has a total prize money of Rs 15,000, will receive Rs 7,000 along with a trophy. The runner-up will get Rs 5,000 and the third-place team will get Rs 3,000.

In the first edition held last year, the team of Sujan Kafle and Sabin Khatiwada, Nightmare Cousins, became the champions. This is also the 13th tournament being organized by the Himalayan Chess Academy.
