The Pokhara Gold Cup was not a happy one for Church Boys United, who had just reached Pokhara after playing the final of the Budhasubba Gold Cup in Dharan on Saturday. Church Boys were knocked out of the competition after losing 3-0 to Jawalakhel Youth Club in the second quarterfinal match held at the Pokhara Stadium on Sunday amidst fatigue and rain.

With this win, Jawalakhel has become the second team to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing 25th edition. The Church Boys team, which arrived in Pokhara after becoming the runner-up in Dharan on Saturday, looked a little tired on the field. The match started 15 minutes later than the scheduled time due to lack of time for preparation. Church Boys could not find their natural rhythm in the light rain, which Jawalakhel took full advantage of.

Jawalakhel performed impressively by keeping a clean sheet in what seemed to be a one-sided match. Jawalakhel, who became aggressive from the start of the match, took advantage of the weaknesses of the Church Boys' defense and goalkeeper. However, both teams could not score in the first half.

In the 88th minute of the game, Jamaican player Nicholas Hamilton showed excellent individual skills and beat goalkeeper Deep to make the score 2-0. In the injury time of the second half, Sujan Gurung's shot from near the penalty area hit the net directly, confirming Jawalakhel's 3-0 victory. Jawalakhel's foreign player Nicholas Hamilton, who performed impressively on the field, was declared the Player of the Match. He received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
