Golf duo Rame Magar and Ravi Khadka have taken the joint lead on the first day of the Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open Golf. They shot a score of 3-under 65, edging Jayaram Shrestha by 1 stroke.

Jayaram finished third with a 2-under 66. Sanjay Lama was fourth with a 1-under 67, while Bhuvan Kumar Rokka, Nepal's number one pro golfer Neeraj Tamang and Dinesh Prajapati were tied for fifth with an even-par 68. Bhuvan Nagarkoti, who scored a 1-over 69, and amateur golfers Rahul Bishwakarma and Mahendra Fagami took eighth place. 

At the Royal Nepal Golf Club, Rame missed a shot on the second hole but saved par on the remaining eight holes. He played the front nine at 1-over 35. After this, he played the back nine without a bogey and achieved birdie success in four holes. He birdied the 10th, 11th, 13th and 18th holes to finish the back nine at 4-under 30. Ravi played the front nine at 2-under 32 and the back nine at 1-under 33 to create a bogey-free scorecard. He birdied the first, ninth and tenth holes and maintained par on the remaining 15 holes.

Jayaram finished the front nine at even-par 34. He birdied the fourth, eighth and ninth holes but missed a shot each on the third, fifth and sixth holes. He recovered on the back nine. Despite a bogey on the 10th hole, he birdied the 12th, 13th and 16th holes to finish the back nine at 2-under 32.

Rahul and Mahendra are tied at the top with a 1-over 69 on the amateur side. Rahul played 1-over 35 on the front nine and an even-par 34 on the back nine. Mahendra, on the other hand, performed brilliantly on the front nine at 4-under 30. But he finished the back nine at 5-over 49. 34 professional and 21 amateur golfers participated in the tournament.
