The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the annual contract rankings of players for 2025/26. According to the list released by the BCI on Monday, former India captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been demoted.
Sharma and Kohli, who were previously in the 'A' category, have been placed in the 'B' category. According to the BCCI, only Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are in the 'A' category.
The BCCI has been placing players from all three formats of cricket in the 'A' category. Kohli and Sharma have retired from international Twenty20 cricket.

There are 11 players in the 'B' category along with Sharma and Kohli. Similarly, there are 16 players in the C category. The BCCI has also made the 'central contract' of women players public.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma have been placed in the 'A' category for women players. BCCI has included 30 men's and 21 women's players in central contracts for 2025/26.
