Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed to continue Mission 2026, run by the National Sports Council (NSC).
Prime Minister Karki told the team led by NSC Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta to inform the Prime Minister about Mission-2026 that they will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance for budget arrangements.
NSC has been providing special training to 11 teams in 10 sports for the past two years with the aim of bringing double-digit medals, including gold, to the 20th Asian Games to be held in Japan. The council has requested for the management of the remaining funds as the budget allocated for the current fiscal year will run the program until the month of Magh.
Member-Secretary Mehta informed the Prime Minister about the preparations for the Asian Games and other issues. National Team Preparation Director Olympian Deepak Bista and Deputy Director Deepak Shrestha were also present on the occasion of the meeting.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Karki had directed that special training should continue immediately after the Falgun 21 elections, saying that the objective should be achieved through good preparation.
