The Twenty20 World Cup has brought a big opportunity for Captain Poudel. If Nepal defeats any of the Test nations or enters the 'Super Eight', his captaincy will surely reach new heights.

At a display at the museum attached to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, former Indian women's cricket team captain Diana Edulji proudly spoke about the impact of Mumbai players on Indian cricket.

Mumbai Cricket has given Indian cricket 11 international cricket captains. One of them is Edulji. Vinoo Mankad, Polly Umrigar, Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Bengsarkar, Sachin Tendulkar to Rohit Sharma, who have captained Indian cricket, are the legends of Mumbai.

The current Indian Twenty20 International captain Suryakumar Yadav also plays domestic cricket from Mumbai recently. Along with Suryakumar, Nepal's captain Rohit Poudel was at the 'Captain's Day' conference on Thursday. Suryakumar was facing the question of the uncertainty of the India-Pakistan match with full confidence, and was answering questions about Indian cricket in a humorous manner.

Rohit's confidence was not lacking either, perhaps standing at the 'Captain Hub of Indian Cricket' must have given him extra energy. He was saying, 'Our generation grew up watching the first World Cup played by Nepal in 2014, now this World Cup will also inspire a new generation.'

Rohit led Nepal in its return to the Twenty20 World Cup 10 years later. Nepal lost to South Africa and Bangladesh by narrow margins in the World Cup held in the US and the West Indies. ‘We came close to winning on a few occasions against a Test nation, but when we got another chance to play, we were able to defeat the West Indies,’ Rohit said, while West Indies captain Sai Hope, who was with him, smiled faintly.

In September, Nepal played a three-match Twenty20 series against the West Indies, which was Nepal’s first series against a Test nation. Nepal won the first two matches to record a historic series. Nepal, led by Rohit, will play against England, the West Indies, Italy and Scotland in the group stage of this Twenty20 World Cup. Nepal may have an opportunity to defeat a Test nation on the biggest stage of world cricket.

Rohit is Nepal's most successful batsman in terms of individual performance and the most successful captain in terms of results. Rohit is the only player to complete 2,000 runs in ODIs. Rohit has also scored more than 1,600 runs in Twenty20 Internationals.

This is the third Twenty20 World Cup that Nepal is playing, and Rohit is captaining for the second time. After seeing Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Veshavkar, Shakti Gauchan, and Basant Regmi playing in the 2014 World Cup on television, Rohit rushed to Kathmandu from Bardaghat in Nawalparasi with the goal of becoming a cricketer. He believes that the next generation will be inspired by watching the Twenty20 World Cup that Nepal is playing now, just like he did 10 years ago.

The World Cup has a special meaning for Rohit. The Nepal U-19 team lost to the UAE by 1 run in 2018 after the match was interrupted by rain, due to which Nepal missed out on the chance to play the ICC U-19 World Cup. It was difficult for him to accept this for a while, but it has fueled his hunger to play the World Cup. Now, the Nepali national team is playing its second consecutive Twenty20 World Cup, with Rohit captaining both.

Nepal had an ODI Asia Cup match in 2023 under Rohit's captaincy. Rohit led Nepal to win 11 out of 12 matches in the World Cup League-2 in 2023. Rohit captained the team in the Twenty20 International in 2022 when Manoj Prabhakar was the coach. Soon after, Monty Desai became Nepal's coach

, Rohit's game took off. This also made him a mature captain. Nepali cricket has also changed since then. Rohit's captaincy and success have gone hand in hand.

The Nepal Premier League (NPL) has been providing Rohit with a better opportunity to understand the responsibility of captaincy. In the first season, Rohit's Lumbini Lions were at the bottom of the NPL, winning only one match. Rohit's Lumbini Lions, who were considered a weak team, surprised many by lifting the NPL title this year. While many players in the team were showing average performance, Rohit played a major role in making Lumbini Lions the winner by showing magic as captain.

The Twenty20 World Cup has brought a similar big opportunity to Rohit. If Nepal defeats any of the Test nations or enters the 'Super Eight', Rohit's captaincy can reach new heights. It will also ensure that many doors open for Nepali cricket. Rohit also believes that this time Nepal has the best opportunity.
