The trophy for the U-15 PABSON Cricket League (PCL) organized by PABSON Kathmandu was unveiled on Sunday.
PABSON President Krishna Prasad Adhikari unveiled the trophy. The names, logos, sponsors, jerseys and anthems of the participating teams were also unveiled on the occasion.
The tournament to be held at the Tallo Mulpani Cricket Ground from 28th Magh will feature eight student teams, including the host Kathmandu PABSON and seven PABSON provincial teams.
The host PABSON Kathmandu Capitals, PABSON Sudurpaschim Rising, PABSON Bagmati Challengers, PABSON Gandaki Eagles, PABSON Karnali Highlanders, PABSON Koshi Strikers, PABSON Lumbini Mongs and PABSON Madhesh Royals will be divided into two groups and compete on a league-cum-knockout basis.
Team sponsors include Triton Secondary School-College of Madhesh, South Western State College of Bagmati, Feka of Koshi, Vinayak Siddha College of Karnali, PABSON Kathmandu Metro of Gandaki, Taleju Prakashan of Sudurpaschim, PABSON Chandragiri Nagar Committee of Lumbini and Kathmandu Capitals Organization of Private Schools (OPS) as per the information provided by the competition director Khim Bahadur Thapa.
Chairman Adhikari expressed his belief that this age group competition of cricket, which has recently become a popular sport in Nepal, will help identify new talented players and will also make a significant contribution to the development and expansion of cricket.
He pledged to provide Rs 500,000 from the Central PABSON and Rs 100,000 from Valley Public School for the competition.
Chairman of the organizer PABSON Kathmandu, Nawaraj Bhatta, said that along with education, PABSON has also prioritized sports with the aim of producing national players. Chairman Bhatta said that the best players will be selected from this competition and a 'dream team' will be formed and given opportunities on the national and international stage with facilities.
Competition coordinator and organizer PABSON Kathmandu Vice President Dhan Bahadur Pun informed that all the teams have been selected.
At the program, PABSON Bagmati President Murari Prakash Sanjel announced that he would provide Rs 500,000 and Central PABSON Co-President Gopal Prasad Acharya, Mukunda Pandey of Sarvnam School and Paramount Academy would provide Rs 50,000 each.
