India, the victim of a dramatic batting display, defeated the United States by 29 runs in the Twenty20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 162 runs to win at the Wankhede Stadium, the US could only manage 132 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their Group A match. The US did not get off to a good start. Sanjay Krishnamurthy scored 37 runs for them.

Similarly, Shubham Ranjan also added 37 runs. Milind Kumar contributed 34 runs. Invited to bat first, India overcame a poor start and scored 161 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Indian bowler Mohammad Siraj took three wickets for 29 runs. Similarly, Ashardeep Singh and Axar Patel took two wickets each.

India was in a weak position at one point, losing six wickets until they scored 77 runs. From there, captain Suryakumar took charge of the innings and scored 84 runs off 49 balls. That included ten fours and four sixes. Sadley van Schalkwik played a major role in destroying the Indian batting order. He took four wickets for 25 runs. Among them was a four-wicket performance in a single over.
