The Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) U-16 team has left for Mumbai, India.
The team left for Mumbai on Friday to observe the T-20 World Cup matches to be held at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and to play friendly cricket matches with local clubs there.
According to DCA President Subash Shahi, during the 14-day visit to Mumbai, the DCA U-16 team will play friendly cricket matches with six local clubs in India. The team will also observe four matches played by Nepal at the Wankhede Stadium.
The team includes a total of 17 players. Among them, four players were produced by the grassroots cricket campaign of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City. President Shahi said, “It is not enough for players to just practice games and nets in Nepal. Partnership with a powerful cricket nation like India is necessary to increase the confidence of the players.”
He said that seeing international-level players playing in the World Cup up close will be a great learning experience for the new generation of players. “Players like Lokesh Bam, who played for DCA, have reached this level today. "The Mumbai tour is a great opportunity for these young players who are just starting their sports careers," said Chairman Shahi.
