The inaugural match of the 26th edition of the International Invitational Buddha Subba Gold Cup will be played between the host Dharan Football Club and the visiting team Georgian Football Club India. The match will start at 2 pm at the Dharan Stadium.

The Indian club arrived in Dharan yesterday to play the tournament. The winner of the opening match will compete with Pokhara's Laligurans FC in the quarterfinals on Magh 26. Laligurans will play the quarterfinals with a direct bye.

The host Dharan Football Club has informed that the preparations for the tournament have been completed. This time, for the first time, 10 teams will participate in the tournament, which will be held until Falgun 2. Along with the teams from India and Bhutan, the previous winners NRT, runners-up Church Boys United, Satdobato Youth Club, Nepal Police Club, and Jhapa-11 have also expressed their participation in the Gold Cup.

Bhutan's Royal Thimphu Football FC has also arrived in Dharan to participate in the tournament, along with the Indian team, informed club president Pratap Tamang. The winning team of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 million, while the runner-up team will receive a prize of Rs 5 million.

Both prizes have been provided by Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City. The best player of the tournament will receive a Honda Dio scooter. Until last year, the best player was receiving a cash prize of Rs 100,000. Similarly, the man of the match of each match will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the best player in each category will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The top scorer will receive Rs 35,000. 

The organizers have stated that the administration has given permission to conduct the Gold Cup with certain conditions while the election code of conduct has been implemented. The District Administration Office has given permission by specifying conditions such as not allowing candidates who have filed nominations for the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 to speak at the stadium and not allowing them to go to the stadium to ask for votes.
