Namuna College and Small Haven School have reached the finals of the ongoing Hisan Cup cricket tournament in Itahari.

In the first semi-final of the tournament organized by the Higher Education and Secondary Schools Association (HISAN) Sunsari, Itahari's Namuna defeated Sushma Godavari College by 49 runs and moved closer to the title.

Namuna, who batted first after winning the toss at the Janata Cricket Ground, scored 108 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Raju BK played a half-century innings for Namuna. He remained unbeaten on 58 runs off 25 balls. Gunjan Dahal added 11 runs. In reply, Sushma Godavari, chasing a winning target of 109 runs, could only score 59 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Anil Basnet scored 26 runs not out while MD Adil added 16 runs. Namuna's Raju BK was declared the player of the match.

In the second semi-final, which was held on Wednesday, Inaruwa's Small Haven School defeated Itahari's Kosi St. James by a wide margin of 104 runs to book a title clash with Namuna. Chasing a target of 163 runs set by Small Haven, Kosi St. James was bundled out for 58 runs in 10 overs. Except for Mohit Bishwakarma of Kosi St. James who scored 22 runs, no other batsman could reach double figures.

Earlier, Inaruwa's Small Haven, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, had scored 162 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Robin Mondal played a brilliant innings of 76 runs off 35 balls for them. Khalid Khan scored 34 runs. Robin was named Player of the Match. The title clash between Small Haven and Namuna will be held on Thursday.

The competition under the 12th Sports Meet of Hisan Sunsari was attended by 8 colleges of Sunsari. The competition, which has the technical support of the Sunsari District Cricket Association, is believed to provide a competitive environment for college-level players and increase the attraction towards cricket.
